Kolkata: A 48-year-old homemaker, Bharati Naskar, walked into the Jinjira Bazar outpost of Maheshtala police station on Sunday morning and confessed to killing her mother-in-law.
“I murdered my mother-in-law,” she told the officers.
The cops immediately detained Naskar and sent officers to her residence in Shamparoypur in Ward 15 of Maheshtala Municipality, where they discovered 77-year-old Jamuna Naskar lying unconscious with a severe head injury.
Jamuna was immediately taken to Vidyasagar Hospital, where medical personnel pronounced her dead on arrival.
The victim’s son, Bhuban, works in a battery-producing unit. He said Bharati and he had no children, and admitted there were conflicts between his wife and his mother, primarily around domestic issues.
Mahestala cops have started a
murder case.
